Katherine + Andrew – Hotel Monaco Philadelphia – Old St. Mary’s – Philadelphia Wedding And Event Planner – Angela MALICKI Events

With this cold weather hitting us, it’s nice to look back on the weddings we had the opportunity to work on this past summer. It was a beautiful June day when the lovely couple Katherine and Andrew became husband and wife. The couple, along with the bridal party, started at Hotel Monaco in Old City getting ready for their special day. Everybody looked amazing and filled the day with celebration and happiness for the newly weds. Katie’s Romana Kreveza gown fit her beautifully and matched perfectly with the bridesmaids short lavender dresses.

As Katie and her bridesmaids were finishing up getting ready with Eric, I was over with Andrew and the groomesmen pinning boutineers for my first time ( successfully did not poke anybody)! The groomesmen and I arrived first at Old St. Mary’s Church with transportation provided by King’s Limo. With the guests settled and bridal party all lined up, it was time to start the ceremony! Andrew stood at the alter with his groomesmen smilling ear to ear as he watched Katherine and her father walk slowly down the aisle – it was truly beautiful!

After the ceremony, the couple and bridal party headed to Washington Sqaure Park for pictures with Joe Foley Photography. The rest of the guests headed over to the Stratus Lounge at Hotel Monaco for a cocktail hour to enjoy delicious appetizers and refreshments while looking over Philadelphia on a rooftop. CTO Artists provided the guests with a beautiful string arrangement to help set the mood. I went with the couple and Joe Foley Photography to City Hall for some finals shots as the bridal party joined the rest of the guests. Everybody passing by the newly weds shouted a “Congratulations!” making the day even more merry.

The ballroom turned out looking absolutely breathtaking with the help of Angela and Hotel Monaco. The color theme consisted of a light purple, ivory, and black. A Modern Touch florist provided the center pieces with white and pink roses along with purple peonies – they really brought the room together! Ciao Bella Cakes made a delicious five tier cake that had flowers which matched the center pieces. At the end of dinner, each table was given a tray of delectable italian cookies from the brides mother Gabbie. Outside of the ballroom had a table set up with family photos for guests to view as they walked into the reception area.

The couple really pumped up the party when they entered the reception to the song Bring Em Out by TI! DJ Bizz kept the dance floor moving and grooving all night long. Katie slipped on her custom Tom’s for some fun dancing. It was such a pleasure to see the newly weds so happy and celebrating with their loved ones!

The day was such a success and I am glad to have been able to be apart of it. Katherine and Andrew were a pleasure to work with and I wish them both a lifetime of happiness with each other! Thank you to all of the vendors and people who helped make this day special.

Kelsey

Marykate + Dan – Hotel Monaco Philadelphia, Part 1 – St. John Media – Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

We had the pleasure of working with Marykate and Dan on their summer wedding this past June. As most of our couples, planning a wedding beginning to end is not an easy task, especially with little time in the day. MK’s parents had reached out to us in the spring, being that they never worked with a planner (on their son’s wedding), they didn’t know how our services would work. Ironically, Marykate, Dan and her parents visited our wedding set up at the Hotel Monaco last July for Amanda and Frank – it was meant to be!

The couple had many of their key professionals picked with the exception of a few. We gave them a few suggestions on who we thought would be a good fit. The event was a success, the couple and family couldn’t have been happier and everything went off without a hitch.

We started at the parents home in Media where Duo Make Up artistry started with the hair stylists. In the background, the Beatles were playing and the sound of Marykate’s niece Ela was laughing and having a great time with the bride to be. Mom helped Marykate in her Waters lace gown and completed the look with her sparkly Jimmy Choo heels. She was cool as a cucumber, that is until dad saw her for the first time walking down the steps – my favorite part!

Outside was her “special car”, a vintage rolls royce, waiting to take her to St. John’s in Media. With the church packed and Dan eager to see his bride – we started the processional ending with the bride being escorted by her parents. The couple exited the church in a bubble send off after followed by a few pictures in the church. They headed into the city for additional photos then ended at the Hotel Monaco for their lovely cocktail party and reception.

In the ballroom, we worked closely with the couple on designing the perfect space. I made a few suggestions on the centerpieces and incorporated more color in the ballroom. We worked with Eventions productions on the lighting and had colored linens that matched the invitations and overall scheme of the wedding. Marykate and Dan love doing puzzles, that’s where we had the idea of incorporating the puzzle pieces on the invitation and use it as a logo. The handmade paper  design we used for the invitation was then utilized on the cake – which was designed by Ciao Bella Cakes in Hatboro.

It was such a pleasure getting to see the couples reactions when we gave them a sneak peak of their room before the guests! They loved seeing how everything came together along with their delicous cake made by Ciao Bella Cakes. As they practiced their first dance, I couldn’t help but feel proud of my team and how amazing the event turned out. Below you can view the beautiful details from the reception.

Glitter, Glitz, and Glam – Carla + Gregory – Custom Wedding Invitation – Philadelphia Stationery Designer – Titus Print

We had the pleasure of working with Carla and Gregory on a custom invitation for their wedding this November. Gregory is the brother of our past client – Gigi(Jamal), who’s invitations we designed and wedding we coordinated a few years ago. Their chic color scheme included – rich navy, platinum and silver. Carla liked the idea of a square layered invitation completed with a glitter belly band and logo. We used textured white card stock for all elements including the main invitation and other pieces. The outer envelope consisted of navy shimmer that was lined with the same silver shimmer paper used for the bellyband. Carla LOVED the complete invitation! Instead of a reply card with envelope – we created a reply post card that worked perfectly and saved the couple on postage. For more information on this or other Titus Print invitations, please contact us at hello@titusprint.com or Angela Malicki at 267.253.0573

Last Friday we had the pleasure coordinating Alex and Greg’s wedding at The Lakehouse Inn. These high school sweethearts booked us 2 years ago for their wedding. We were delighted to work with them and give them a few vendor suggestions and making their event a success.

I was moved by this wonderful note that Debbie Brooks (mother of the bride) emailed. Praise like this makes my job most fulfilling and I couldn’t have done it without my team- Sarah and Kelsey, and of course the professional partners. Thank you David, owner of Rosetree Films for making their day with the teaser you sent to them yesterday- YOU’RE THE BEST!

Check out the teaser by clicking the link below:)

Dear Angela;

How do I begin to thank you for making my daughter’s wedding, “THE WEDDING OF THE CENTURY” as our guest refer to it now, one of the best days of our lives! It was two years in the making, and well worth all the anticipation. Our guests were astonished by how magical and ethereal the day was. You and your assistants turned what would have been a stressful and anxiety filled day into a complete magical, stress free, laid backed and enjoyable day. You took all the worry and stress out of a normally crazy day and turned it into a day to remember! My daughter and I enjoyed every minute of every hour without having to worry about anything but enjoying the day. You made that happen! I cannot thank you enough for that. We new Alexandria’s wedding was going to be beautiful, but WOW, even the rain couldn’t dampen the mood or the magic of the day. From choosing the vendors (which were AMAZING) to the set up, the time line to the things that I never would have thought of. You did an incredible job. You were meant to be a wedding planner. You are the Best!!! Our guest couldn’t stop commenting on the “Wedding of the Century”. You gave my daughter and her new husband the best gift that could be given, MEMORIES OF THE BEGINNING OF THEIR LIVES TOGETHER!! You captured that from the venue at the Lake House Inn, to the best photographer ever, Shea Roggio to the incredible David, of Rose Tree Films. David actually had a droid plane fly over the venue and take Ariel photos!! WOW!! Really, that is amazing!! Biz the DJ, awesome also. Our guest danced the night away. Petals Lane, OMG the best florist ever!! Brittany is a breath of fresh air. She makes you smile. The love she puts into her art is magical. From the centerpieces to bouquets’ to ceremony set up and beyond it was breathtaking! The flowers were beautiful, but not over done. The wedding is described by guest as modern elegance with a vintage feel. Brittney nailed it. Angela, I could go on for days thanking you for everything and I still not come close. So I will say this, If it wasn’t for you, my daughter’s wedding wouldn’t have been the Elegant Affair that it was with memories to last a lifetime! All weddings cost money to have, but you made it well worth every penny and more. A wedding wouldn’t be a true masterpiece without ANGELA MALICKI putting her stamp on it. Please if anyone is planning a wedding, make sure it includes Angela Malicki! For weddings that will be Enchanting and talked about for years to come, Ang is your girl!

Love and gratitude from the bottom of my heart,

Debra M.Brooks
Mother of the bride

Paige + Teddy – ACE Conference Center- Part 1- Philadelphia Wedding Planner- Angela MALICKI events

Over the weekend we had the honor of coordinating Paige and Teddy’s  fun filled wedding. Here are a few details from the day which was held at ACE Conference Center in Lafayette Hill,PA right outside of Philadelphia.  Below are images we captured of  the day , no detail was missed as yo can see. Kudos to Paige and Teddy for hosting a memorable wedding.

If you haven’t checked out his venue, please do so! From the wood beams, brick interior and manicured gardens, this truly is a hidden gem, all catering exclusively done by Wolfgang Puck Catering– ask for Daniel- he’s the BEST!

A few details from Teddy and Paige’s wedding at ACE conference center Lafayette Hill

When we met Paige and Teddy and most professionals were booked with a few additions in the end due to an unexpected venue change. This place was meant to, the couple hosted golf in the morning for the guys and yoga for the ladies right before getting ready. The couple worked with Bonnie’s Flowers (ambler) on floral aspects, they did a great job tying in all the colors. There were 3 different centerpieces including, tall vases with birch branches, flowers surrounding lanterns and lower arrangements with votive candles around. Paige had all wooden table numbers made and all stationery was designed by a family friend. Each menu card had each individual guest listed – what a perfect touch!

Daniel and I collaborated on a few design elements including the farm table, fabulous silk tablecloths, church linen napkins and heavy rose-colored goblets I can’t forget the green sea glass plates!

The room looked spectacular with all the lighting elements, we partnered with Eventions Productions for all lighting. We suggested to the couple that market lights above the dancefloor would create an intimate and cozy feel. If you look at the ceiling carefully , you will see tree like shadows from the gobo projected. Amber uplighting warmed e room up and pinspots on the tables can be seem throughout the room. It couldn’t have been more perfect. image

The aisle looked amazing! Lanterns and pillars with large floral arrangements lined the spacious aisle and at the end was a metal arch covered in roses. The couple loves beer and had a beer garden outside during cocktail hour, each guest was handed a coozie with the couples names to keep their beer cold – how clever! Instead of a sign in book, Paige and Teddy had a cornhole board with their initials,to be used as a sign in board, they provided color sharpies for guests to write with.

At the bar they had their signature drinks and cute birch and green straws, I love them!

The dessert display was fit for a king! I gave mom Mitch the idea to find cute display pieces for the desserts, she found several dishes that tied perfectly with the event, the couple chose Macarons, Ice cream sandwiches and cheesecake pops to name a few – oh and the wedding cake, amazing! The couple worked with Bredenbecks in Chestnut Hill on their tree stump design, it was delish. Paige loves beer and a close friend made her this cute wedding dress bottle cover, I love that idea!

Outdoor ceremony space at the ACE Conference Center

the ceremony space was magnificent, we assisted Bonnie flowers and her team with the lantern set up. Paige purchased various sizes to give the look a rustic feel. We then repurposed them into the Lafayette ballroom once ceremony ended. Paige had a gal on etsy write out her table signs and seating chart.

Paige and Teddy walked down the aisle to Home by Edward Sharpe played perfect by EBE Events and Entertainment Paris- Troy Knox and his band was AMAZING! All night the dance floor was packed.  Paige looked gorgeous in her Lian Carlo lace gown and Teddy in his pal egret suit with green seersucker bow tie.

It was it was a pleasure being their wedding planner and helping them during the planning process. Eric, Jennarose, Kelsey , Sara and I had a blast. Stay tuned for a formal blog post with all  details and vendor info. We wish Paige and Teddy best of luck.

Amanda + Frank, Part 2 – Hotel Monaco of Philadelphia, St. John the Evangelist Church, Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

Where do I begin with Frank and Amanda! 3 words – adorable, chic and amazing. This couple was referred to us by our past clients Natalie and Jose, who was married in 2009,we were excited to work with them on their Chic Philadelphia wedding at Hotel Monaco on Chestnut Street. We started our day in their bridal suite overlooking Independence Park. Amanda, perfect in every way, was ready to get things started. Her glam squad – no lie when I say that – had her looking like a runway model at New York Bridal Week. Her hair was to perfection and the dress, how do I begin to describe it. Amanda donned a fabulous Sottero-Midgley complete with matching lace cropped sleeve topper.

Frank was finishing up with his groomsmen on the other side of the hotel as Ashley pinned the boutineers . This day couldn’t go any smoother. We all headed to St. John the Evangelist on 13th in a Philadelphia staple – a white trolley. Guests were transported by a double-decker bus provided by the couple, what a great way to see our city.

The ceremony went as planned and guests including Frank were at awe when Amanda walked down the aisle. Ceremony complete, now ready for pictures in my beautiful city. Brittany-Lee and Rosetree Films documented their every move as they hit the town for pictures.

Details at the hotel Monaco

Keys were attached to each place card and lush flowers and lanterns completed the table

Ash and I started set up of the ballroom ensure all the details were perfect. We worked closely with the couple on many details including the lighting, event furniture (there  were 2 lounges in the ballroom), custom logo projected on the dance floor. The couple had a photobooth for guests to enjoy during the event and as a wedding favor, they created a CD with their favorite songs that guests could take home.

Guests entered through the lobby to find a beautiful lush floral display with their placecard (each one had a skeleton key tied with ribbon).

Vintage suitcase with old postcards

The couple had guests fill out old postcards as their sign in book and drop them in a suitcase . They were very clever with the details.

During cocktail hour, music playing in the background by CTO’s Karma Strings while guests enjoying yummy bites and the couples signature cocktail “The Stratus”.

White diamond leather couches by AFR

We created this lounge space for guests to enjoy. White diamond leather couches by AFR. Trend alert- couple made signs with their wedding hash tag for guests to tag on Instagram.

The Lafayette Room was perfect, lighting to perfection (we worked closely with Eventions Productions), each table was double pin spotted and the room uplit in a light Rose’ hue.  Titus Print designed the couples logo which was projected on the dancefloor.

Rose colored ulighting in the Lafayette ballroom

Eventions Productions did a great job with the lighting. Titus Print designed their logo with was projected on the dance floor.

Lush pink hued centerpieces

Anton’s flowers in Vineland did a fab job with the flowers. There were different height centerpieces. Each were placed in mercury glass vases. That tied in the platinum . All linens we ordered from party Rental.

The flowers were amazing, Anton’s Flowers, local to the brides town, worked closely with the couple on the centerpieces which were perfect with the Platinum and white linens we picked from Party Renal Ltd.

The couple surprised the guests with a choreographed dance to “One and Only” by Adele.  DJ Bizz of CTO kept the dancefloor packed all night and the crowd non stop.

Wedding Seating Chart 101 – Philadelphia Wedding And Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

Head table with menu cards

Seating Chart Tips 101

For something that seems quit simple, actually tends to be a very tedious and tricky process. Designing the seating chart is something one should start constructing at the beginning of their wedding planning. I am going to provide you with some tips and tricks to help eliminate stress on the big wedding day! From learning seating cards vs. escort cards to organization ideas your seating chart process will be easy peasy!

Why Create A Seating Chart?

Guests particularly feel more comfortable with pre-arranged seating assignments for sit-down dinners. They want to be able to have somewhere to go to right away and put their stuff down. Having an assigned seat cuts down the confusion for when it is meal time. Also, it shows that you’ve put thought into their interests and who they would be compatable with!

Organization:

Our client, Alex, created this visual aid for her seating chart.

Our client, Alex, created this visual aide to help organize her seating arrangements. She is getting married at the Lakehouse Inn this Fall!

While planing your seating chart use a visual aid and write names on small post-it notes to be able to physically move them around the seating chart! Using different colors is helpful to distinguish the guests relationship to the bride and groom (Family, Friends, Coworkers, ect.) This can be a great way to manage last minute cancelations as well as making sure there is a blance in the tables to ensure your guests a great reception!

Things to keep in mind:

– Plan for more people: It’s always a safe idea to have a some extra chairs and a table for back up. Some people forget to RSVP, bring their kids, show up with a date – and you want to be able to seat them all!

– Table arrangements: The Bridal table is genereally placed at the head of the dance floor facing the entertianment, arranging your table to be visible to all guests. Following is the bride and groom’s families, who should be the closest to the wedding party. Many perfer to seperate their families with the groom’s family on one side and the bride’s on the other. For the rest of the wedding guests you can try arranging people together with similar interests or backgrounds. Having a variety of coupled and single people as well as newer and older faces helps your guests feel more open and comfortable with each other.

– Floor plan size: Remember to keep the reception location in mind to be able to work around their floor plan. Places can usually provide you with a layout of the room for the reception. The visual aid above is great with experimenting different kinds of arrangements before making any final decisions!

Bridal Table vs. Sweethearts Table:

A Sweetheart Table is a small (usually circular) table for just the bride and groom to sit at during the reception. This table should be the focal point of the reception area facing their guests, with their bridal party and family members at adjacent tables. Couples may prefer this option so that they can spend some alone time together in an intimate setting on their special day. It also gives your wedding party an opportunity to sit with their dates or families.

Sweet heart Table with lace overlay

A Bridal Table (or head table) is designed for a couple who wants to be with their wedding party during the reception. Your head table can be similar to all of the other reception tables or it can be elevated to stand out. The bride and groom are set at the center of the table followed by the groomsman next to the bride and the bridesmaid next to the groom, then it goes every other (boy, girl) the rest of the way.

Head table                                                  Seating Chart vs. Escort Cards:

A Seating Chart is set up at the entrance of the wedding reception area to show each guest which table they will be seated at all on one large chart or diagram. It can either list guests by table or alphabetically by name. Seating charts are great for larger weddings because it is a bigger showcase on which people can locate their name and table. Be cautious that the writing is legible for all guests. You can get really creative with this display by using a chalkboard, window frame, mirrior – the ideas are endless!

Seating Chart 2- chalkboard sign

Escort Cards are generally little cards with the guest’s name and table number printed or written on them. Brides have been coming up with lots of creative ideas then just displaying cards – such as flowers, cute pinwheels, or even mini drinks with the guest’s name and table printed or tied onto the object. Escort cards are fun because they allow your guest to find their table while also recieving a delightful gift with their name on it! These are usually arranged in a inventive manor at the entrance of the wedding reception. A nice bonus about escort cards is that they can be changed up to the last minute while a seating chart may need printed days or weeks in advance.

Escort Cards

In the end, try not to stress about seating arrangements! It’s your fabulous wedding day and guest’s will be mingling while also getting groovey on the dance floor!!

xoxo Kelsey

Hair trends for the “bride” to be – Beautiful Bride’s Philly – Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

Ladies are you looking for that perfect, trendy hairstyle for your wedding day? Than look no further! Dana Perisa, owner and her assistant Maggie Armstrong of Beautiful Brides Philly tells all! Take a look at our Q & A! Dana and her team are mobile hair and make up artists that come to you for any special event. BBP work speaks for itself, Dana and her team are professional, on trend and will make you feel like a princess. We recently worked with them on a event for Wish Upon a Wedding (a non profit organization) for Kelly and Michelle

Q: What are brides asking for?

A: Brides are asking for pretty much everything! We see a wide range of styles based on the brides personality. However, we do see a lot of half up half down styles and up-dos that incorporate braids and a lot of texture.

Q: Are classic hairstyles coming back?

A: A popular trend is to take a classic bridal hairstyle, and add a twist to it. Overall, brides are leaning towards a much more casual and easy-going look, rather then the “over done” – so that may mean instead of the slicked back look, pulling a few pieces of hair to frame the face.

Q: Do you see more up do’s or long curls? Or other?

A: It’s split evenly between the down-do and the up-do — it really depends greatly on the bride.

Q: What are mothers of the bride and groom asking for?

A: They usually gravitate towards a simple, but elegant blow out, or a classic hairstyle such as a french twist. There is no need to mess with what works!

Q: What hairstyle tends to go with certain types of dresses? (i.e. mermaid dresses look nice with long flowing hair)

A: The brides gown will reflect her personality, which will in turn reflect what kind of style she wants for her wedding day. If someone has chosen a big, Cinderella inspired dress, then her hair will probably reflect that drama and elegance. A bride who opts for a more casual, shift inspired frock, may go for a more casual down-do full of loose curls.

Q: Are headbands and pearls used in the hair frequently?

A: Headbands are a new addition to the already dizzying array of hair accessories that a bride can choose from, but we do see them. Sometimes, after the ceremony is over, the bride may opt to change out of her veil and into a more casual hair accessory.  Pearls are classic, so for a bride that has opted for a more traditional look may want to add a few pins with pearl to their ‘do.

Q: What is the most common hairstyle that you’ve done?

A: A common style we see is when the hair is gently pulled back to the crown of the head, curled, and pinned to create a mound of curls that is both flattering, and appropriate for aspecial occasion. Often we also see brides and bridal attendant request a half up half down look with romantic curls.

Q: Which celebrity hair style do brides want?

A: We see a lot of images of Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lawerence and Carrie Underwood.

Q: What can be done if any of the bridal parties hair do’s come undone?

A: The hair styles we do never come undone! But in the rare case that they do, our stylists always leave some bobby pins and often recommend the bride have easy access to a can of hair spray. The bridal party member in question can opt for two options — pinning the curls back in place, or completely disassembling the updo and transforming it into an elegant down-do.

Q: What is your favorite hair do?

A: We love a classic, vintage inspired up-do. Something with some volume and structure, ala Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn.

My top five trend picks:  1. The long mermaid hair look. 2. A fish tail braid pulled to either side of the shoulder with a flower headband. 3. Hair french braided too back of head, ending in a flower.

4. Free flowing hair with one flower in ear. 5. Hair in a bun with pearls and flowers inserted throughout.

Another happy client- Hotel Monaco Philadelphia- Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner- Angela MALICKI events

We love receiving emails from our clients, especially 2 days after their wedding. Thank you Marykate and Dan for having us be a part of your special day!

Angela,
Many thanks for helping us create a practically-perfect experience for our daughter’s wedding. From your guidance with both competent and helpful vendors, to the unique and beautiful invitation/ paper goods design, to the on-going communication throughout our year-long process, to the creation and tweaking of our wedding day time-line, to your coordination efforts with the hotel staff, to your helpful staff members and all the suggestions, hints, and ideas that enhanced our experience… your services literally MADE our day.
Speaking of the day…we just put ourselves in the hands of the pro and EVERYTHING was handled seamlessly. Our experience was stress free…if there were any glitches…only you knew, you handled them and we were free to just have a ball!
Most impressive was your debrief of our event two days later to get feedback on your service and to provide feedback to the venue. We would not hesitate to recommend you and your staff to others, and we would encourage anyone planning a wedding to consider giving themselves the gift of having you involved.
Thank you again for all that you, Kelsey and Jenna Rose did for us on Saturday, June 28, 2014.

with thanks,

parents of the bride
