Katherine + Andrew – Hotel Monaco Philadelphia – Old St. Mary’s – Philadelphia Wedding And Event Planner – Angela MALICKI Events

With this cold weather hitting us, it’s nice to look back on the weddings we had the opportunity to work on this past summer. It was a beautiful June day when the lovely couple Katherine and Andrew became husband and wife. The couple, along with the bridal party, started at Hotel Monaco in Old City getting ready for their special day. Everybody looked amazing and filled the day with celebration and happiness for the newly weds. Katie’s Romana Kreveza gown fit her beautifully and matched perfectly with the bridesmaids short lavender dresses.

As Katie and her bridesmaids were finishing up getting ready with Eric, I was over with Andrew and the groomesmen pinning boutineers for my first time ( successfully did not poke anybody)! The groomesmen and I arrived first at Old St. Mary’s Church with transportation provided by King’s Limo. With the guests settled and bridal party all lined up, it was time to start the ceremony! Andrew stood at the alter with his groomesmen smilling ear to ear as he watched Katherine and her father walk slowly down the aisle – it was truly beautiful!

After the ceremony, the couple and bridal party headed to Washington Sqaure Park for pictures with Joe Foley Photography. The rest of the guests headed over to the Stratus Lounge at Hotel Monaco for a cocktail hour to enjoy delicious appetizers and refreshments while looking over Philadelphia on a rooftop. CTO Artists provided the guests with a beautiful string arrangement to help set the mood. I went with the couple and Joe Foley Photography to City Hall for some finals shots as the bridal party joined the rest of the guests. Everybody passing by the newly weds shouted a “Congratulations!” making the day even more merry.

The ballroom turned out looking absolutely breathtaking with the help of Angela and Hotel Monaco. The color theme consisted of a light purple, ivory, and black. A Modern Touch florist provided the center pieces with white and pink roses along with purple peonies – they really brought the room together! Ciao Bella Cakes made a delicious five tier cake that had flowers which matched the center pieces. At the end of dinner, each table was given a tray of delectable italian cookies from the brides mother Gabbie. Outside of the ballroom had a table set up with family photos for guests to view as they walked into the reception area.

The couple really pumped up the party when they entered the reception to the song Bring Em Out by TI! DJ Bizz kept the dance floor moving and grooving all night long. Katie slipped on her custom Tom’s for some fun dancing. It was such a pleasure to see the newly weds so happy and celebrating with their loved ones!

Amanda + Frank, Part 2 – Hotel Monaco of Philadelphia, St. John the Evangelist Church, Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

Where do I begin with Frank and Amanda! 3 words – adorable, chic and amazing. This couple was referred to us by our past clients Natalie and Jose, who was married in 2009,we were excited to work with them on their Chic Philadelphia wedding at Hotel Monaco on Chestnut Street. We started our day in their bridal suite overlooking Independence Park. Amanda, perfect in every way, was ready to get things started. Her glam squad – no lie when I say that – had her looking like a runway model at New York Bridal Week. Her hair was to perfection and the dress, how do I begin to describe it. Amanda donned a fabulous Sottero-Midgley complete with matching lace cropped sleeve topper.

Frank was finishing up with his groomsmen on the other side of the hotel as Ashley pinned the boutineers . This day couldn’t go any smoother. We all headed to St. John the Evangelist on 13th in a Philadelphia staple – a white trolley. Guests were transported by a double-decker bus provided by the couple, what a great way to see our city.

The ceremony went as planned and guests including Frank were at awe when Amanda walked down the aisle. Ceremony complete, now ready for pictures in my beautiful city. Brittany-Lee and Rosetree Films documented their every move as they hit the town for pictures.

Details at the hotel Monaco

Keys were attached to each place card and lush flowers and lanterns completed the table

Ash and I started set up of the ballroom ensure all the details were perfect. We worked closely with the couple on many details including the lighting, event furniture (there  were 2 lounges in the ballroom), custom logo projected on the dance floor. The couple had a photobooth for guests to enjoy during the event and as a wedding favor, they created a CD with their favorite songs that guests could take home.

Guests entered through the lobby to find a beautiful lush floral display with their placecard (each one had a skeleton key tied with ribbon).

Vintage suitcase with old postcards

The couple had guests fill out old postcards as their sign in book and drop them in a suitcase . They were very clever with the details.

During cocktail hour, music playing in the background by CTO’s Karma Strings while guests enjoying yummy bites and the couples signature cocktail “The Stratus”.

White diamond leather couches by AFR

We created this lounge space for guests to enjoy. White diamond leather couches by AFR. Trend alert- couple made signs with their wedding hash tag for guests to tag on Instagram.

The Lafayette Room was perfect, lighting to perfection (we worked closely with Eventions Productions), each table was double pin spotted and the room uplit in a light Rose’ hue.  Titus Print designed the couples logo which was projected on the dancefloor.

Rose colored ulighting in the Lafayette ballroom

Eventions Productions did a great job with the lighting. Titus Print designed their logo with was projected on the dance floor.

Lush pink hued centerpieces

Anton’s flowers in Vineland did a fab job with the flowers. There were different height centerpieces. Each were placed in mercury glass vases. That tied in the platinum . All linens we ordered from party Rental.

The flowers were amazing, Anton’s Flowers, local to the brides town, worked closely with the couple on the centerpieces which were perfect with the Platinum and white linens we picked from Party Renal Ltd.

The couple surprised the guests with a choreographed dance to “One and Only” by Adele.  DJ Bizz of CTO kept the dancefloor packed all night and the crowd non stop.

A mixtape filled with all good ol’ lovin music, sounds like a perfect gift for that cute honey of yours. Clearly this is not my expertise, that’s why I partnered with our good friend and business partner – DJ Bizz. We’ve worked with Bizz on several fabulous events including The Knot Party last year and many weddings throughout the years. Bizz works the hottest parties and events with CTO Artists and kills it in the  hottest clubs locally and across the U.S independently.

Bizz took us back in the 90’s and honestly the best time of my life – thanks Bizz for that, and created a phenom mixtape that you will love. Mix includes artists like – Heavy D, LL Cool J, Mary J, and PM Dawn – say what.

Hope you enjoy this mix as much as I did and it brought back good memories for you too. You can download this mix via DJ Bizz’s Sound Cloud page, while you’re there, be sure to check his other mixes.

Amanda and Michael – Arts Ballroom – Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

Oh how I love this couple! From the first time we met, right away we clicked and I knew their wedding would be an amazing one.  Jenna and I started our day at the Doubletree Hotel Philadelphia on Broad Street, where Claudia Seyler  was finishing up with Amanda’s hair and make up. See looked amazing! Amanda looked so beautiful in her Alita Graham gown with crystal Ali Ellie belt.

Amanda and her dad arrived in a white Rolls Royce Phantom to the Basilica as her guests waited patiently. The bridal party lined up and ready to go, we were about to start – this is my favorite part.  Mike and all the groomsmen waiting at the alter as Amanda and her father walked down slowly to “Trumpet Voluntary” by Clarke, it was perfect.

After the ceremony, time for  pictures – Phil Kramer, whom we worked with at Gigi and Jamal’s wedding,  took pictures  at the Philadelphia Art Museum and various locations in the city before the reception. I love all the images captured and the love that they have for one another showed. It started to drizzle – they say it’s good luck to rain on your wedding day – so we headed to the Doubletree Hotel where the couple relaxed before the big party.

The Arts Ballroom looked amazing, all the details came together beautifully as Eric and I were putting the finishing touches in the ballroom. Eventions Productions uplit the cocktail room in a soft sky blue color to accentuate the columns and ceiling. The ballroom was spectacular, all the tables were covered in satin champagne floor length linens and paired with gold chiavari chairs. The tablescape was as grand as the ballroom ,we worked closely with Adrianne  of Robertson’s Flowers on their centerpieces.

The couple had 2 different centerpieces consisting of lush white hydrangea and roses in white and cream. The larger pieces were nestled at the base of a large crystal candelabra lit with floating candles. The other centerpieces were a lower version. The tables were complete with custom designed table signs (all designed by Titus Print), and menu cards, all in rich gold and opal shimmer cardstock.

The guests were greeted with the couple’s signature drink, “The Astronaut” as they nibbled on STARR’s amazing food. Amanda and Mike wanted their guests to have fun, as their wedding favor, they had Shutterbooth Photobooth there for the entire event. It was a big success.

We revealed the reception space to Amanda and Mike before their guests and they were soo happy. They walked onto the dancefloor where we had placed their custom designed Gobo with their logo. Positioned next to their sweetheart table was their spectacular cake designed by Whipped Bakeshop, the couple had their initial positioned in the center of this edible masterpiece.

The party started right away with their intro, Amanda and Mike walked into the song “Otis” by Jay Z and Kanye, mixed nicely by DJ Bizz of CTO Artists. The party was non-stop and guests were on the dancefloor all night.

The couple’s first song was “Baby I’m Amazed” by Paul Mc Cartney, it was so beautiful.

The couple shared special dances with their parents, where they let them choose their own songs. This is a great way to involve both parents with the music selection during that memorable moment. DJ Bizz surprised the guests with Egyptian club music that had everyone on the dancefloor once again. The couple was hoisted on chairs above the guests, another Egyptian tradition, as everyone danced around them. What an awesome way to end a fabulous wedding.

Thank you Amanda and Michael for letting us plan your amazing wedding. You were great to work with and we love you both. Hope you had a great time in  The Dominican Republic.

Liza + Jordan, Artesano Galeria – Manayunk, Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

Ahhh – our beloved Liza and Jordan, where do we begin. Back in December of 2010, this couple was referred to us by the talented Beke Beau. “Ang, I feel like you two will jive together”, and she was right! Liza, a marketing and special event planner, had great eye for detail and after searching for her venue, they chose the über modern Artesano Iron Works Gallery or also known as Artesano Galeria in downtown Manayunk. This venue is an art gallery by day, showcasing all their own designs hand forged in Columbia and by night, a fabulous space for any type of event.

Liza and Jordan are more than clients to us, they are our close friends that we often share dinner, drinks and laughs with. We thought it would be nice to share some of the wedding details from their point of view:

Liza and Jordan’s Inspiration: “Jordan and I have a modern-eclectic style. From our everyday outfits to our home décor, our aesthetic consists of clean lines and warm/natural tones. We knew we wanted to be true to who we are as individuals and as a couple when thinking about the look and feel for our wedding day. After living in NYC (and Jordan growing up there), we gravitated toward urban spaces when looking for a venue. After a site visit with our caterer, Peachtree & Ward, we knew Artesano Iron Works Gallery was the perfect setting for us to become husband and wife. From the magnificent iron work art adorning the walls to the endless candles – the space had the urban and romantic feel we were going for.”

“By utilizing the space and the beauty of the gallery (the exposed brick walls, the art, the lighting), it allowed us to focus on the design details. We wanted our guests to walk into this “world” of Liza and Jordan – to feel us. We wanted a long aisle of hurricanes filled with pillar candles. We think flowers are beautiful, yet we didn’t want over-the-top centerpieces that competed with Artesano’s raw beauty. We were inspired by the iron work art and soft lighting and played off those design elements when picking our natural burlap linens to complement our squared, wooden centerpieces filled with gorgeous succulents and accents flowers in our lapis purple and bright green color palette. The bouquets and centerpieces by the amazing J & J Flowers were out of this world. To carry along our succulent theme (which more so evolved over time), we used wine-cork succulent magnets as our favors (made by AlissaRose on Etsy). And as I was shopping with my cousin in Home Goods, we strolled by the art section where a perfectly matted image of a succulent stared me in the face. We used that image as our “guest book,” where our amazing family and friends signed the matting with sweet messages of love. We both wavered on our table number cards. We went back and forth between modern, wooden stand-alone numbers or to get creatively modern. We chose the latter and had JonesStreetPress (Etsy) create cards in our lapis purple background with black & white images of moments in our lives as a couple and the relative date or year of the event. To honor our dear friends who were in our wedding and share our anniversary, I used the group shot of their wedding along with 916 as the number – they cried, we cried and we’re so glad we chose to add another personal touch to our day.  As with many things in our lives, our inspiration and design naturally came together for our big day. We didn’t overthink any one thing too much – we just tried to stay as true to ourselves as possible…just kicked it up a notch!”

Liza and Jordan’s Story: “It was May 27, 2006 and I (Liza) was at the Beer Garden in good ‘ole Astoria celebrating my new job (still current job) with friends. My girlfriend and I went to the restroom and we decided that being the single ladies we were, we should do a ‘loop’ to scope out the prospects! Jordan and I eyed each other. I gave him the ‘look over the shoulder’ and he approached. Here’s how the conversation went:

Jordan: Hi, I’m Jordan. (stuck out hand to shake mine…)
Liza: Hi, I’m Liza.
Jordan: Do you have a boyfriend? (he saw me with my friend at the time and thought we might have been dating)
Liza: No.
Jordan: Why not?
Liza: Because I don’t want one.
Jordan: OK, well, I’m going to buy you a beer and sit with you.

That was the start of a conversation that would continue day after day, now year after year. Couldn’t imagine the banter with anyone else.”

We love the simplicity of this photo. Amanda D’Andrea putting the finishing touches to Liza’s hair style.

Liza’s mother staring at the beautiful bride-to-be.

Liza’s infectious smile never ended though out the day.

The aisle was lined with tall cylinder vases that we had with 16 inch ivory pillar candles. There was endless votive candles to set the mood –  it fit the romantic feel 100%! Their processional was critical as the groomsmen and mothers walked down the aisle to “Crystal Ball” by Pink and the bridemaids and Liza walked down to “Glitter in the Air” – 45 seconds each to be exact per person!

There was alot of love and emotion at this moment, there were no microphones or interruptions, the ceremony was for Liza and Jordan “It’s about us” Liza stated. Their ceremony was performed by Elizabeth Frumin, whom we worked with a week prior at another wedding. We love her!

“The Dog Days are Over” Florence and the Machine

The bridesmaids wore a beautiful Lapis purple dress (Priscilla of Boston), their bracelets were a gift from Liza, they were a gorgeous Silpada  design – silver and amethyst stone. The succulent bouquets were perfect against the dresses.

Special moments between the new couple, all captured by Scott Lewis Images.

A few details that fit the theme of the event.  left to right -1. Cake designed by Bredenbeck’s that was delicious. 2. Family photos of  Liza’s grandparents and grandmother. 3. close up of Liza’s bouquet – designed by J & J Flowers. 4. Centerpieces were designed by J & J Flowers consisting of succulents, spider mums and seasonal flowers, contained in a bamboo  wooden box Liza found at IKEA. Each table was designed with burlap linens, custom designed table signs , which represented a date that meant something to Liza and Jordan. 5. Custom made and designed mini succulent cork magnets with tag.

Their first dance was “I could die for you” by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
