Liza and Jordan – Tales of a bride and the bizzaro dreams – Part two – Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

I month or so ago, you noticed a “different” type of post, not done by Ash or myself, but our fabulous client Liza. Liza and Jordan are to wed in a few months this year, but as many brides, the crazy, bizzaro dreams and planning – turn of events occur during this process. This is Liza’s second of many posts. I hope you enjoy this as much I do!

Did Your Email Mean What I Think it Meant?

We’ve all been there. The time when the wedding planning check-list needs attention and by attention, I mean you need answers from your vendors. Email is used so frequently in our everyday lives and sometimes, unless you are constantly using happy-face symbols, our intent can be misconstrued. The same applies for emails received. Here’s my breakdown of how NOT to create a mystical nonsense world in that female head of ours when a “blunt” vendor email comes your way.
The Response Was 5 Words…I wrote 2 Paragraphs

Women (assuming it’s the bride doing the coordinating…I know, it’s bad to assume but chill out for the case of this amazingly well-written blog <insert happy face!>) are emotional beings. We get excited when a DVRd Oprah is ready to give you yet another “Ah-Ha” moment. We also are excited to be getting married. It’s like major. We’ve planned and planned and now it’s time to get ‘er done and finalize those ever-so-important items on the list. Working your way down you begin to draft an email to “Vendor Number One.” You’re excited, you want to know when to schedule your rehearsal so you can then schedule your rehearsal dinner. Seems to be a logical enough request, right? Then you start writing…and writing…and writing…and before you know it you have written the fourth book in the Twilight series. All you needed an answer for was: what time are you open until so I can set the schedule for my rehearsal?

And then comes the response: We’re only open until 5. You sit in shock for a good minute analyzing why they didn’t add animated comment to the rest of your romance novel. Then you begin to over-analyze and create that mystical nonsense world in your brain that says: “I had a feeling they had an attitude from the start…I am paying them, I should not have to deal with this…They are probably too busy right now to comment on my novel…They better call me to apologize for their overly blunt response.”
Angry_woman_with_computer

At this moment ladies, it’s time to take your hands away from the keyboard and reply button. Compose yourself. Remember that you are not the only bride inquiring about your unique agenda. Remember that “Vendor Number One” responded to you in a rather swift fashion to provide you with the information you needed to move on to step #2. Remember that even though there was a lack of happy faces, they are still committed to making sure your day goes as smoothly as you imagine it because you would not have booked them if you didn’t also feel a good energy when “interviewing.”
We are women, we love that emotional connection and we want other women in our lives – from friends to vendors – to feel the same way. Guess what? They do. But they don’t have to respond with the sequel to The Notebook to prove it.
Until next time….

Did Hot Mama get a Hot Deal? – Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

Lets cut to the chase – did Hot Mama Deidrea sink or swim with the sharks? You’re probably dying to know! Although you should of been watching the show, we can tell you all the inside scoop.

Deidrea, owner of Hot Mama Gowns, pitched her company to the sharks on ABC’s show, Shark Tank, on Friday, April 22nd. Of course we planned a fabulous viewing party for her at McKenzie Brew House in Glen Mills for all of her family and friends to watch the exciting outcome together. Well the answer is – she both sank and swam with the sharks! Deidrea did get an offer from real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, butturned it down! Crazy, right! Barbara wanted to change some things about the gowns, including sizing, which Deidrea felt was not beneficial. Hot Mama Gowns are made specifically for real women sizes – we all know that small, medium, large doesn’t always work for our body types! Barbara also offered to give Deidrea the $30,000 she asked for but wanted 40% of  her company. (I don’t blame her for saying no, you put in all that work, why would you want to give so much away?)

HMG4Some of Deidrea’s very real reactions while watching herself on Shark Tank.

The viewing party at McKenzie’s was definitely a hot mama party! So many of Deidrea’s “cheerleaders” were there rooting her on. Everyone was so excited and anxious to see what had happened, since Deidrea had to keep it a secret since October! The party was held in a private room downstairs of McKenzie’s with televisions all around to watch. Everyone who came through the door was simply thrilled to be there – you could just tell by the look on their face. Luckily, Kevin York Photography was there to capture each moment of the night.

HMG1
Of course, since we are now “professional swaggers” – there were amazing swag boxes given away to guests at the end of the night! The boxes were stuffed with “mommy” gifts including tea from Earth Mama Angel Baby Organics, adorable hair clips from Kula Klips, cloth diaper detergent from Rockin’ Green Soap, a face cloth fromLunaPads, a delicious oatcake from Effie’s Homemade, organic baby soap from Sweet Knee, and a beautiful blanket from Babi LayersThe Belly Button Boutique also donated a UPPA baby VISTA stroller (worth $679.99) that Deidrea raffled off the night of the viewing. After stuffing 100 swag boxes with baby goodness, I think Ash and I are experts on what to suggest to mommy’s to be.

The space was decked out with all of Deidrea’s Hot Mama items. She had two gowns on display, along with swaddling blankets. Hot Mama Gowns even had their own custom M&M’s! The Orginial Runner Co. donated a hot pink aisle runner for the entrance, which looked absolutely amazing! The event was packed with hot mamas (and some dads too)!

The night started out FABULOUS, D wore these will shoes with hints of pink. I love her entire outfit, including her chic coiff ! All guests were photographed in front of the step and repeat board that we designed and set up. How glamorous!!!

HMG7Some of Deidrea’s “cheerleaders” as she likes to call her family and friends. Pictured in the top left photo is Veronica Utz, owner of babyB designs (center)

Deidrea really tells the story best. We can only imagine the adrenaline running through her body the night of the viewing! After the show Deidrea did a breif Q&A session – and it turns out that since the show she has had an “angel investor” come into her life. We won’t give away too many details – so you can read it yourself on her Hot Mama Blog.

Hot Mama Gowns has really made its footprint on the mama map and we have been happy to be a part of her journey! We wish you all the best Deidrea!

Rachelle and Dan’s Purple,Gold and Champagne Invites – The Willow Mansion – Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

So we blogged about Rachelle and Dan yesterday about their FABULOUS photo shoot with dollface studio. Today we will post about their gorgeous invitations. We met with this fun couple back in December, both busy with work and life in general, they really didn’t know where to start with the planning and design process. They contacted us for our full service and design package!

We first started with the all the major details with this event, being that the event was four months away we didn’t waste any time. Hiring us for full service, we trimmed the fat from the planning and narrowed down many options with their event professionals. Rachelle and Dan wanted a venue that was elegant, special and unique – they chose the Willows Mansion in Radnor. The view was priceless and breathtaking. Sold! OK so once Rachelle and Dan’s event professionals were booked, we started brainstorming ideas for the color palette. Rachelle love’s purple, especially the color of the Schwartz Calla lily (remember Lisa and Randy’s wedding in July – that color).

We started the design with the colors and decided on a triple layer invite suite with a handmade paper lined opal envelope. They loved them! The backing of the invite is the exact match of the calla and the middle layer is a match to Rachelle’s Pronovias gown. The complete look fitting the feel and vibe of the event. Each invite was hand embossed with a luxe gold motif surrounding their monogram.

We had calligraphed each envelope with an eggplant color ink (all 65 of them). The guests were so excited for their invitation and are still raving about them to the couple.

We can’t wait for their GLAMOROUS wedding next month, stay tuned!

this triple layer suite made a statement, especially when the guest received them with their info calligraphed. FANCY.FANCY!

Love the gold motif that is carried through out the print details. Here is a tip in customizing your print, choose a pantone matched ink that will be carried through out your print and details from your event. Even from your flowers or bridesmaids dresses. Oh, then contact us for the design and production!

P1040245

Ahh Thanksgiving, the early rise of cooking the famous bird, setting the table with the “Good Stuff”, family coming over reminiscing about the good ol’days and the all the non-stop football games on the T.V. Memories. Most importantly, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what matters to most – Being Thankful! We would like to thank all of our past and future clients for letting us be part of their special day and  ”their” memories. I, would like to thank my FABULOUS team, without them I could not do what I do with out them. The hours and dedication that they put into the designing and coordination, words can not describe my gratitude. Also, AME’s new addition, Zeke, our graphic design assistant has been a blessing with his talent and patience. I can not thank you enough. To all the talented and amazing professionals that we have worked with and will be working with, you have made our job exciting and fun, most important of all, the friendship that was gained afterwards.Lastly, my husband and family. You have been a great support through the years with advice and business succession. You constantly keep me focused on doing what I do best-designing.

Jason and Noreen Part three – Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

I told you that I would have fabulous photos of Jason and Noreen’s wedding and I do, thanks to the phenom Siobhan, owner of dollface studio. Their Independence Day weekend wedding weather was perfect. Noreen looked like an old Hollywood Scarlett with her classic touches.Their reception took place at the Union League of Philadelphia. The staff there were great to work with. A special thanks to Abby, Ramone and most importantly Shereena! Jason and Noreen were a delight to work with and I was proud to work with this great couple.

0044
Noreen’s Nina shoes were SPECTACULAR! Her something blue as you can see are the crystals that say it all.
0054
Noreen’s dress was by Oleg Cassini, a designer sold at David’s Bridal. This dress fit the theme perfectly.
0133
I love this tradition. Noreen incorporated part of the scripture with this symbol. Cord of the three Strands. You can find this on www.godsknot.com

The bridal party was gorgeous. Everyone traveled from all parts of the US to be with Jason and Noreen, ofcourse J&N traveled from Georgia. Here this pic was taken at Elfeth’s Ally in Old City

This was priceless, Jason thanking eveyone and professing his love to Noreen. Jason is the true “Gentleman”Man. He get’s it from his father, who is also a class act!
Take notice of the linens. I had created their table scape that consisted of white linens, teal shimmer organza overlays, sultan red satin napkins (that my assistant and I folded in the envelope fold – all 130 of them) and hand blown glass votive disks in red and teal.
P1020063
The floral design consisted of tall cylinder vases with large alll white flowers from roses, hydrangaes, stock and lilies. The room smelled wonderful. Thanks to Jeff Sell of Natural Designs
