Split-skis and Wedded Bliss, Celebrity Nuptuals of 2010 – Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

2010 is coming to an end, which means it is definitely time to recap the best weddings of the year and the unfortunate splits as well. Let’s first discuss the fabulous weddings that were my favorites in 2010: The super spunky, bad-mouthing, beautiful reality star, Bethanny Frankel wed Jason Hoppy last March at the Four Seasons Hotel in NYC. Her wedding was anything but traditional, with unique modern flare as the theme. Hillary Duff was another favorite. Her wedding was elegant, traditional and tastefully decorated. She looked absolutely stunning in her ivory colored mermaid fitted dress designed by Vera Wang. There were also a few extravagant, newsworthy weddings in the past year. A few of the winners in this category were Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, and Nicole Richie. Underwood’s wedding was totaled at over $500,000, while Katy Perry had a week-long extravaganza in India. Nicole Richie’s December wedding was hosted at her famous father’s house, but what made her part of this newsworthy category was a special guest, an elephant! The social event of the summer was Chelsea Clinton’s wedding to Marc Mezvinsky. 400 of her friends and family came to watch her walk down the aisle wearing a Vera Wang dress in Rhinebeck, N.Y. A few other celebs that got married were Alanis Morrisette and Mario Treadway, Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, and Anna Paquin and Steven Moyer. We can confidently say that weddings in 2010 were show-stopping! A few shocking splits also happened this past year. I was saddened to hear about Courtney Cox and David Arquette. They have been together for so long and although not officially divorced, they are separated. The most famous split of 2010 was Sandra Bullock and Jesse James. She not only became a super star actress and mother in 2010, but also had the most public and humiliating divorce of the year, maybe even the decade. Jesse cheated on her with not one, but allegedly, multiple tattooed women and currently is dating Kat Von D. Sandra definitely came out on top when exiting this marriage. Christina Aguilera recently checked out of her marriage to Jordan Bratman as did Eva Longoria with husband Tony Parker. The most recent splits to end 2010 are Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson – we never really heard much about that marriage anyway! Last, but certainly not least, – attention all Dexter fans! Yes, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall filed for divorce, eloped and were only married for two years. Tear. So to conclude, 2010 was filled with fabulous, over the top weddings, but also brought a few shocking splits. Here’s hoping 2011 will bring even more extravagant weddings and fewer splits! One wedding we will sure not miss will be The Royal Wedding! The wedding will be taken place on April 29th, 2011 at Westminster Abbey. Details have yet to be disclosed on Kate’s dress, tiara, and who will be on the guest list! Have a great New Year!

Bring back the Vintage Glam – Philadelphia Wedding and Event Planner – Angela MALICKI events

Winter fashion/decor trends of this season is VINTAGE! Vintage inspired looks are sophisticated, yet trendy and chic at the same time. This is the answer for brides on a small budget or that fashionista channeling old hollywood glam. Family heirlooms as staple pieces enhance the theme of this Depression Era trend. Tea length dresses are also on trend for their versatility and help brides on a tight budget.

Vintage1

The color palette for winter is dark and flattering, bridesmaids will look amazing in rich colors like dark chocolate, charcoal gray, brick red, amazon green, mocha, and deep orange. These colors look great for the wedding but also be fabulous for other special occasions. What bridesmaid doesn’t love hearing that? Brides will also see a lot more soft fabrics such as tulle, lace, raw silks. Texture is an upcoming popular trend for bridal wear in 2010/2011.

Vintage2

Designers have created looks with over exhaturated necklines, hems and embellishments. This trend will not only be shown on gowns but also seen at their receptions. Textures like added ruffles, feathers, lace and jewels enhance the layering of fabrics on table linens will give heightened depth to each table-scape. Mixing heights, shapes, and sizes of tables will also be present this coming season.

Cupcake + ALOT of Wine = go figure, it’s pretty good!

About a month a go I was invited to a great networking event hosted by Drexelbrook Catering, Cupcake Gourmet and Frank’s Wine Mart held at The Chestnut Club. At first I thought “Cupcakes and wine- this is a strange combo”. Much to my surprise, the pair were a match made in heaven! With cupcakes on the brain, I had to have this duo for my get together. I designed the dessert menu with five different flavors, paired beautifully with the perfect wine. I whipped out the pink KitchenAid and started baking, two days into the cupcakeapalooza – my kitchen looked as if Betty Crocker exploded everywhere! Viola! Perfectly decorated mini cupcakes placed beautifully on dessert trays and antique plates.

Cupcake-party

I first started with the yummy red velvet, my secret (ok not really) to a moist cupcake, I add a box of vanilla pudding. That really makes a difference in the consistency. I topped the cupcake with my own cream cheese frosting, then I added red sugar sprinkles.

Cupcake4

For anyone that has been to one of my dinner parties, I always set the table with chargers, china and crystal. With the amount of guests, its easy to set up and break down.  If you do not have china or crystal, you can set your table up with what you already might have in your cabinet. Stick with a theme, mine was a Marie Antoinette inspired look.  Damask printed napkins pulled through a giant silk rose placed on top of the Wedgwood blue and baroque trim plate. Neatly placed on the gold textured charger. Each setting had a handwritten place card with my guests name.

Cupcake5
Even though this GTG took place in November, I wanted to have flowers that reflected the theme. Pink garden roses and green filler placed in between tall taper candles on crystal holders

Cupcake2
The pictures do not do these pretties justice. There were five different flavors including vanilla, chocolate, carrot cake, red velvet and lemon. Each flavor had a handwritten sign in front of the display. This is a nice touch for your guests to know, what kind are you serving.

Cupcake1
This was a nice time to catch up with friends and enjoy a few cupcakes with wine!

Wine that worked with the following cupcakes were

Sauvinon Blanc paired with Lemon cupcake w/ lemon frosting
Pinot Grigio paried with Carrot Cake w/cream cheese frosting topped with raisin
Chardonnay paired with Vanilla cupcake w/creamy vanilla frosting and semi glaze
Pinot Noir or Red Velvet paired with Red Velvet w/cream cheese frosting
Cabernet  paired with Chocolate cupcake w/ creamy milk chocolate frosting and semi glaze

Cream Cheese Frosting that will make you go MMMM….

1 stick of unsalted sweetcream butter

2 cups of powder sugar

2 – 3 tbs of milk

1 tsp of vanilla extract

In mixer or handheld mixer, whip butter until white and creamy, add milk and vanilla, mix together theroughly, add powder sugar. Mix well until frosty. Place in plastic container and cover until use.

For lemon frosting:

Same recipe as above just add 2 tbs of lemon juice

For Cream Cheese Frosting:

Ahh Thanksgiving, the early rise of cooking the famous bird, setting the table with the “Good Stuff”, family coming over reminiscing about the good ol’days and the all the non-stop football games on the T.V. AHHH , Letterpress!

As a graphic designer I love many things, and of them is fabulous paper. Especially heavy cardstock –  with a letterpress print. I finally have the chance to post a few images of my cards that I designed myself and printed by one of my business partners that I love – my secret! Since starting my company, I have gone through several cards and colors. Every time I had a networking event I always had some new card, “OMG Ang another card” I just wasn’t happy. Finally, enough was enough. For our clients, we offer a variety of printing services including Letterpress, Therm,Flat and Metal printed materials. I know metal, crazy right. So think of us for your printing needs, including invites.

P1030060
Cards were printed both sides with my custom colors. I totally fell in love when I saw them. Once you go letterpress, you’ll never go back- to what you had that is!
P1030079
P1030084
My cards had to be different and the thickness had to be like no other. So I selected a 220 Lb Crane stock in Solar White – Yum
